　　1.1. Purpose

　　This document contains rules and procedures for exams related to the ISTQB Advanced

　　Level syllabus.

　　1.2. Scope

　　This document covers

　　a) the number of questions per exam

　　b) the length of the exam

　　c) the distribution of questions per topic (chapter)

　　d) the passing score

　　2. Advanced Level Exam Rules

　　• Advanced Level exams will be based on the syllabus [CTAL_2012].

　　• Answers to exam questions may require the use of material based on more than one

　　section of this syllabus.

　　• All learning objectives of the syllabus are examinable.

　　• Exam questions may require knowledge from Foundation Level learning objectives.

　　2.1. Exam Structure

　　• There are 3 separate modules in the Advanced syllabus: Test Manager, Test Analyst,

　　Technical Test Analyst, each of which has an independent exam.

　　• Each question answered correctly scores between one and three points.

　　• The exam questions will be distributed ‘roughly’ in line with the Learning Objectives

　　of each chapter.

　　• The number of questions and exam timing for each module is indicated in the

　　following table. If the candidate’s native language is not the exam language, the

　　exam duration is increased by 25%.

　　• A score of at least 65% is required in order to pass an exam.
